Steve has been instrumental in helping me to get my feet healthy, and in overcoming fears about running fast for long distances.
One of the few running store owners brave enough to embrace the minimalist / barefoot running movement as a natural extension of the services he offers to his growing clientele. Not to mention that the guy just Rocks!
Every once in a while I go in and sell shoes. What a picture (barefoot man selling shoes). What can I say, but that we have a lot of fun.

The first time that I met Kelly he came to the St George Running Center store to tell us about a barefoot minimalist running group that he had started to help his cliental. Steve (Hooper) and I had just returned from a nice temp run (maybe not for Steve) and Kelly offered to do some work on our feet.
WOW!
I felt a surge of energy that rolled up my body starting at my feet all the way to the top of my head. Both Steve and I experienced the same effect. We had an incredible run and then to top it off with this experience was like eating the best chocolate cake twice.
He knows his stuff, he is actively creating programs to help runners and athletes of all abilities to overcome weaknesses and limitations. My running abilities have taken a dramatic leap because of his help. He is quickly becoming one of this countries foremost experts in helping runners who have been sidelined by injuries to run again and to do it healthy. Link to his bio

The motto on their door is “Think you’re fit?” I was humbled to have met Jens Lovell and even more so after my first training session at his gym. Very quickly the weaknesses in my body have been highlighted. I am going to call Jens my toughness coach. It was amazing to see how he worked with me and the other clients in his gym. I have always been one to shun commercial gyms as they always felt fake to me. Jens took me back in time to when I was a Marine where every building on base seemed to have pull-up bars next to them. It felt good. (Ok that was just the warm up.) My first workout in his gym was intense and it was definitely humbling as I mentioned above. Jens is helping me to use the principles of CrossFit Endurance to maximize my training time to be able to do the Ironman, and still have time to serve my business clients. YES!
Jens is also getting ready to run the St George Marathon and has a training group that does barefoot speed workouts at the Snow Canyon High School track.

Will be watching you finish the Ironman sans shoes. Goal ultima!
I just devoured Barefoot Ken Bob’s–Barefoot Running Step by Step. Great read on form and freedom. I ab-sole-lutly LOVE running barefoot. Conditioning feet and learning form on rough roads after running in Vibrams for 6 months. Before that I didn’t run at all because I did not find joy in running. Vibrams helped me find joy without pain but I wanted more. Joyfully running now with 2 naked feet. Do you have a secret for running bare when the road is warm/hot? Came home with several blisters yesterday I suspect from the heat (did not do my usual morning run, ran at noon). The blisters were on my toe pads and outer edges of forefeet.
